About

This blog was created in the aftermath of our 2011 Martin Luther King Day ceremony. At the end of the ceremony, we expressed our desire to keep alive the memory of the Comose Fig tree by trying to protect and save other trees.

We hope that this blog will serve as a gathering place for all who have love for these majestic creatures.

“If any tree should have been spared, it’s the Comose Fig tree. Its sheer size makes its environmental benefits more important. Planting several small trees will not make up for this tree’s ‘gifts’ for a long time. An American forester said, ‘Trees outstrip most people in the extent and depth of their work for the public good.’ This one certainly did!”

  1. Pat,
Just to say congratulations on this beautiful new website and to say thanks to you and Adam for your efforts in trying to save the Comose Fig tree. The blog is a fine way to honor its memory while simultaneously providing a rallying point for the ongoing effort to protect one of Hawaii’s most precious assets: its trees.
